Call screen becomes lock screen

When I have an active call, either outgoing or incoming, once my phone locks, the call screen is what shows. This has resulted in me accidentally hanging up the call multiple times when I am just trying to unlock my phone but still continue to call. How do I stop the call screen from from showing once the phone locks while the call continues? This was a terrible update decision by apple

I assume you have already attempted a force restart. (Press and release the volume up button, then do the same with the volume down button. Hold the side button until the Apple logo appears, then release it), If this doesn't work, there are only two possibilities, maybe the proximity sensor was damaged by an impact. If that's not the case, then the problem is likely a corrupt iOS update. Here are a few things you can try: if you have all your information backed up, try a factory reset and then update again. Another alternative is to use a third-party application like iMyFone or DrFone on a laptop or desktop to restore the firmware in recovery mode.

I understand that the behavior of the call screen becoming the lock screen can be frustrating. While Apple regularly updates its software, it's possible that the user interface may change, and new features or adjustments are introduced. To address your concern and prevent accidentally hanging up during a call when your phone locks, follow these steps:

1. Disable Auto-Lock temporarily during calls:

- Go to Settings on your iPhone.

- Tap on "Display & Brightness."

- Select "Auto-Lock" and set it to "Never" or choose a longer duration.

- This will prevent your phone from automatically locking during a call.

2. Check Accessibility settings:

- Open Settings.

- Go to "Accessibility."

- Tap on "Touch."

- Look for the "Call Audio Routing" option.

- Ensure that it is set to "Automatic."

3. Update iOS:

- Make sure your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Apple often releases updates to address bugs and improve system stability.

- Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for and install any available updates.

4. Provide Feedback to Apple:

- If the issue persists, consider submitting feedback to Apple. This can be done through the Feedback app or Apple's website.

- Apple values user feedback and may address concerns in future updates.

5. Explore Third-Party Solutions:

- Check the App Store for third-party apps that may offer additional customization options for call handling and screen behavior.

If the phone is locking during a call due to the proximity sensor, here are some additional steps you can take:

1. Clean the Proximity Sensor:

- The proximity sensor may be obstructed by dirt or debris. Ensure that the sensor area near the top of the phone (usually near the front-facing camera) is clean. Wipe it gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.

2. Restart Your iPhone:

- A simple restart can sometimes resolve sensor-related issues. Turn off your iPhone, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

3. Check for iOS Updates:

- Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest iOS version. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check for and install any available updates.

4. Reset All Settings:

- If the problem persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This won't delete your data, but it will revert settings like Wi-Fi passwords and wallpaper to their defaults.

- Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

5. Contact Apple Support:

- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's advisable to reach out to Apple Support directly. They can provide personalized assistance and may have specific troubleshooting steps based on your device and iOS version.

Remember to provide them with detailed information about the issue, including when it started, any recent changes or updates, and the specific model of your iPhone. They may be able to offer further guidance or escalate the issue if needed.

No, it won't. The phone locks during a call because of the proximity sensor, not because of the Auto-lock.

Your answers demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of the topic you are responding too. I don't know where you are getting your responses (Idris suggests ChatGPT perhaps?), but they are simply completely wrong.

It's great to see a new poster who wants to help. But unless you understand the question, it might help you to see if someone who does understand responds and learn from them. That's how most of us now, senior members of the forum wound where we are. We watched and learned and benefited from people who had more experience than we did.
