Error 400 when setting up a gmail account in MacBook Air

I attempted to change my password on my Mac and now it says error 400 when I try to reinstall

That's a generic HTTP error (Bad Request). In the context of Gmail, it appears to mean this:


"If you get an error that says “400 invalid_request” or “Access blocked: App sent an invalid request,” it means the app uses an authorization method that Google doesn’t allow.

Only the third-party developer can fix this issue. Contact the developer directly to tell them about the error."

If you are using an older version of Apple Mail, it could be that Google considers that version of Mail to be insecure and won't allow you to connect using your regular Google password. In that case, you might need to configure Mail to sign in using a Google app password.
