Accidental Screenshots: Am I the only one who feels like Apples h8tes its customers?
Sometimes a product has a flaw that is so easily fixable, so detrimental to the user experience, that it makes me wonder if the management and design team is populated with sociopaths who find joy in frustrating everyday people.
With the iPhone that would be the Screenshot function, which is mapped to the absolute worst possible buttons: Volume Up + Lock. As a result, I keep on taking accidental screenshots three or four times a day. Adding insult to injury, the shortcut can't be remapped (barring a double tap on the back, which doesn't work with my phone case).
I'm not the only person with this complaint. A TikTok last year called "When I accidentally screenshot my wallpaper for the 3rd time today" featuring a user losing his mind because of this glitch earned 77'000 likes. SEVENTY SEVEN THOUSAND. And yet the problem persists, and has been for years.
So my question is simple: Why isn't Apple doing anything about it? It's not like it's a hardware change that would cost millions of Dollars to implement. It's not like they're unaware of the problem...A single focus group could tell you that at least two out of five people don't enjoy the current shortcut. Or is this intentional? Are they hoping that screenshots fill up iCloud space that they bill for even if it drives users mad?
What is it?? Can someone give me a rational explanation for this irrational behavior?
