Recents list is empty when trying to attach a recently created document to email in Apple Mail on my new M3 iMac.

The recents list under the Apple icon and in Finder are accurate. I'm referring to the CHOOSE FILE box that opens when I click the paperclip icon to attach a document to my email. There is what looks like a little clock icon next to RECENTS in search box. And, searching for my most recent file by name doesn't work either!

I recently upgraded from my old Intel iMac using Monterey to my new iMac M3 using Sonoma. Yes, I can manually scroll through the thousands of files in the sub folder to find it, but using recents is much more handy, or it used to be.

Note, Migration Assistant put the migration date on all those existing thousands of files.
