I have a MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015) that is still great to use, but I can't update it from MacSierra version 10.12.6 and I dont want to buy a new laptop - what can I do

OS X 10.12 "Sierra" is very old. You can update that Mac to macOS "Monterey". To learn how to do that, please read How to download and install macOS - Apple Support
According to Apple you can get
macOS Catalina is compatible with these computers
Some say you can go up to Monterey (12)
