Issue with DNS Settings Applying Across Different Wi-Fi Networks on MacBook Air M2, Sonoma 14.3
Hello Everyone,
I'm experiencing an issue with my MacBook Air M2 running Sonoma 14.3, specifically with the DNS configuration settings. Here's the problem:
I have set a custom DNS server (192.168.1.105) for my home Wi-Fi network (let's call it "Wi-Fi A"). The configuration works perfectly while I'm connected to "Wi-Fi A". However, when I leave home and connect to a different Wi-Fi network, such as a public Wi-Fi or another private network, I've noticed that my MacBook still attempts to use the custom DNS server (192.168.1.105) I set for "Wi-Fi A". This is causing connectivity issues, as the custom DNS settings should ideally be specific to "Wi-Fi A" and not apply to other networks I connect to.
Here's what I've tried so far:
- Double-checking the network settings to ensure the DNS is only set for "Wi-Fi A".
- Restarting the MacBook.
- Forgetting other networks and reconnecting.
Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I would expect the DNS settings to be network-specific and not global across all the networks I connect to. Is there a way to make DNS settings specific to each Wi-Fi network, or is there a setting I'm possibly overlooking?
Any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.
