Whenever I turn my Mac on - either from 'sleep mode' or being totally shut down - numerous apps open. I've gone to System Settings and removed all apps that were in 'open at login' yet it never stops. This is a MacBook Pro 14" 2023, Sonoma 14.1. Is there another method of stopping all of these apps from popping open at startup??

I may be stating the obvious, but have you unchecked this box when you shut down?
If check marked, any apps that you don't deliberately Quit before you shut down will reopen when you log back in.

Yes, that box is unchecked. But thank you for asking! Since posting that question I have since shut down and restarted! Should have done that before asking the question as it seems to have resolved the issue.
