Watch ultra 2 - ghost touch causing watch to be unusable

Ghost touch cause apple watch to be unusable. Could not operate the watch anymore. After taking off the watch, the ghost touch, caused the watch to be locked. Due to many incorrect login the watch needed a complete reinstall.

Apple shop advised to continue usage after reinstall, and wait for another ghost touch event, before reterning it to apple.

After reinstall / pairing it worked fine (for 2 hours now :-).

Had anyone a simular experience?

Moisture should not contribute to such problems. It is a rugged, submersible, diving watch. Mine just started to do it today after a non sweaty workout, LOL! A lot of apps kept loading that I was unable to quit. Then after I removed the watch from my wrist, it was as if someone was trying to enter my pass code so many times I was locked out. I updated my iPhone, then my Ultra 2 and, … Never mind, got hung up during update and had to perform the factory reset, that seemed to be the fix for everyone else on this forum. Then followed by the update install…😞👎 I believe it’s fixed now. Whew! 🤞

This happened to me Friday night with my series 9. It even called 911 which was quite the ordeal, especially since it also hung up. I updated both my phone and watch to the latest OS on Saturday as that was supposed to fix it. Today on my run, nothing touching the watch, it started calling out segments every 2-3 seconds, then it cancelled run mode and started walk mode half way through, all on it own. It also triggered Siri, which is not enabled on the watch without pushing the side button and besides, I never said Siri or Hey Siri. They say this is fixed in 10.4 watch OS, but I am thinking it is not fixed yet.

Same thing happened on Easter Sunday while at dinner with my family.

First I noticed that while my phone was laying on the table with locked screen,, my Camera app kept opening and closing. Then later, I noticed my Apple Watch 9 was randomly opening apps and acting as if someone was touching the watch screen. I wasn’t sure what to make of it. And then it called 911 all on its own, I had no control over any functions! Tapping/swiping/crown dial/button- nothing would work.

Then my emergency contacts (who were there at that dinner) started getting SOS messages from me!

Thinking I got hacked, I immediately shut down my iPhone and my niece helped me finally shut off my watch.

I was afraid to turn anything back on.

Later when I got home, I turned on my phone and watch. The watch sent out another SOS message to my Emergency Contacts so I figured out how to Stop Sharing Location in the SOS app.

It’s Monday and so far no other issues.
