Apple TV 4k won’t play youtube videos

Yesterday, all was fine, today however I open the YouTube app on my Apple TV 4k and nothing will play. The videos load, but all I get are swirling dots floating above the center of the opening frame of video.

I can see the video’s timeline, and chapters, but can’t jump to anything, or get anything to play.

I have even tried deleting the largest programs to make more room, even though there is plenty of space on this Apple TV’s memory.

Thanks for your response, fortunately I was able to get it working again.

I am in the Angeles Forest, and the only Internet option for me is Star Link, which seems to be iffy in the wee hours of the night, so I tried rebooting my router. After a few minutes I plugged it back in, and that was no help at all.

So I did a hard reboot of the Apple TV (4k 2nd generation) and that did the trick.

Update your Apple TV system software to the current version, if not done already. How to update your Apple TV - Apple Support

Try this for any misbehaving app:

Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
If the issue still persists, then contact the app developer for further assistance.

(YouTube is playing fine on my Apple TV. I can’t replicate your issue.)
