I have a new M3 MBP and updated OS. I found that Superdrive does not show in my Finder.
But before getting rid of it, if I took my Superdrive to an Apple Store, could they take a look whether the device still works? Or putting it differently, do they have the hardware and software to connect to the Superdrive to see if it works at all? (if I wanted to sell it off eBay or what not.)

They certainly would have the hardware to check out your Apple SuperDrive, so yes, I think it would be worth the effort to have them examine it. You could even call ahead to be sure.
FWIW, I don't have a M3 MBP, but I do have a M2 Pro Mac mini, and my SuperDrive works with it.
