camera in use in another application

Cannot use my camera on Mac air since purchasing iPhone 12. I phone is using camera but Mac air won't

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.6

If you mean the Mac is using the iPhone as the camera then open Photo Booth on the Mac and click on camera in top menu and select Mac camera. That will turn off the iPhone camera using on the Mac.
