2018 Macbook Pro screen flickering black

This Morning I decided to clean my screen of my MacBook Pro because it was dirty, so I decided to clean it with a wet towel, but like 10 - 15 minutes later when I turned it on the screen was flicker black slightly, but around 2 hours later it had gotten way worse and now it’s flickering full black like the screens not on, so i don’t know if it’s from water damage or what but if anyone can help me it would be nice

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.2

Seems like you accidentally damaged the display. Either way there is nothing you can do except have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.

FYI, you only want to use a lightly dampened microfiber cloth when cleaning the laptop.

I personally like to open the display about 90 degrees, then I place the laptop on a flat table top with the back of the display on the table with the base (palmrest & keyboard) up in the air. This allows me to be able to wipe the screen without the display twisting since if the display twists it can break the LCD Panel. You just have to be careful not to press too hard when cleaning the display in this manner or it will crack the LCD Panel or glass....it really only requires very light pressure.

It is hard to say whether it is liquid damage or whether it was caused from the display twisting while cleaning it.
