iWatch Pro pausing activity while snowboarding

When I am snowboarding, and I have the activity app on my Apple Watch Pro working, it often pauses when I put on my glove. After doing some experimenting, I realize that pushing the two buttons on the right hand side of the watch (round with orange circle and long button) simultaneously, it will pause the activity. Is there a way to switch this function off and just pause the activity through the pause button on the screen?
