Activating Emergency SOS via Satellite in Airplane mode
Dear Apple iPhone product team, fellow users
Thank you for adding satellite-based communication features to the iPhone 14/15 (location share, emergency SOS). I am a hunter who uses the location share, in-part as a proof-of-life, with my spouse while attending multi-day trips in the backcountry. And while hiking, I use a third-party GPS mapping application for navigation (OnX); this application operates more efficiently with the iPhone in Airplane mode, which also slows battery consumption. When in Airplane mode, the emergency SOS and location share via satellite do not function. And I wish that they would, in the case that I am maimed by a bear while the iPhone is in Airplane mode, so that I may use the tap-and-hold side button feature to initiate the SOS. Could the community please let me know if I am incorrect or if there is a procedure/setting that would allow me to use these functions while in Airplane mode? Thanks.
