For two days, Google mail has stopped arriving on my Mac and iPhone. Earlier, when it did arrive, it showed far down the drop-down list of mail services like Yahoo. No mail sent today has arrived.

Have you tried rebooting?
if both OS and iOS it would seem you have a password issue reaching the server...
via a browser go to gmail and see if you can log in there....
