adding a gmail account to Mac Mail
I changed the password on my Gmail account and Mail won't accept the new password.

I just answered a similar question about Gmail in Mac Mail app and the OP had success in changing the preferred browser which permitted the Google authentication in the new browser choice. The Gmail account addition was then completed. Perhaps it will work for you also?
One common failure in adding a Gmail as a Mac Mail account is when Google doesn't co-operate with Safari. Many users have had success using another browser to authenticate with Google where they have failed with Safari.
Open another browser, it should ask you if you want it as the preferred browser. If so, answer yes and then proceed to add your Gmail account in Mail. Remember to revisit your choice of preferred browser if you want to stick with Safari.
