Change gmail password

I have an older MacPro with el capitan 10.11.6 os. I have five working gmail accounts. Several weeks ago Google emailed me and told me that I needed to change my password on one account. Once I changed the password by signing into the gmail account with browser I cannot figure out how to change the password on my computer in MacMail 9.3 ? All my other gmail accounts are working OK. Does anyone know how to update your gmail password using a computer with Mail 9.3? Is it possible using Key Chain?

Hmmm, is this an IMAP account?

If so...

Internet Accounts>highlight account, click tiny minus icon, setup account again.

Or try Thunderbird for eMail.

The whole problem is...

Mac's Mail App is not as modern as iOS's Mail app, Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password…

If it's an IMAP account, delete it in Sys Prefs Internet Accounts then use "Other" instead of gMail choice to add it.

Most likely biggest factor is using Other in Mail setup, then using a Browser that doesn’t have gMail PW stored init to get the App PW.

It might just need an App Password separate from the gMail password…

OK, open Keychain > click-on “login” (upper left of page under “Keychains”) > Locate the associated com.apple.account.Google.oath-refresh-token…

I found the listing for the gmail account in the list. Is there any way to edit it to change to the new password?

Open Keychain Access, search for gmail & that account.

You can Quit Mail, then delete that keychain entry, next time you open Mail it'll ask for the new PW.

I quit Mail, deleted the keychain entry, reopened Mail but it never asked for new password?

Control click account in Mail viewer window > take account online > Nothing?
