Credit card fraud caused by new app from the apple app store

This has happened twice in the last 3 years. It happened yesterday. I downloaded and installed an app from the app store and it wanted me to set up an account. It asked for a credit card, and the card was declined. So I foolishly entered another credit card and it too was declined. Then I got phone calls and texts from the credit card banks saying there was fraud on my account. Both accounts had a fraudulent $1 charge and my cards were cancelled. I thought I could trust the Apple app store. I am wondering if there is some kind of worm in my Iphone 15 pro. The fraud occurred at the same time I was setting up the account.

The app said there would be no charge when they requested the card information. It is possible that the bank put the card on hold as soon as the charge came through. When I checked on my phone Sunday, (the texts and phone calls happened while I was at the opera) the charges were from two different urls. I just logged into the bank, and the charges had been deleted so I can't verify the url. It seems like the developer of the app should indicate that they plan to make a charge on the card that would flag a computer hack when I put in my credit card.. Since I had deleted the app, I could not rate the app with zero stars and say what it did to my credit cards. I just want to make sure there isn't some kind of virus or worm in IOS that causes this behavior.
