How to add an email account to my iPhone

I have followed all the steps given to add an email account but it doesn't happen

As I have no idea what steps you followed, try this:

Open Settings
Tap Mail
Tap Accounts
If you see gmail tap on it and remove it, then restart your phone and go back to Settings/Mail/Accounts
Tap Google
follow the instructions on the screen to enter your gmail username and password
Turn on the switches for mail, contacts, and any other
Report what happens, in detail, including the text of any messages you see.

I followed your suggestions exactly. My contacts reappeared, however all of their information is not in place, I.e. emails missing, all phone numbers not present. Contact photos gone in some but not all accounts. My personal information had to be reentered completely.

It was imported from a "Siri" suggestion, as were many other accounts
