Which is the best external DVD CD driver to use with Sonoma 14? I have purchased an Origbelie external drive that does not show at all in my Mac after having tried all different steps in settings, terminal, disk utility etc.

FYI, the CD/DVD drive will not show up in Finder unless there is a disc in drive. Only then will Finder have something to say.
To answer you question, most any usb connected CD/DVD drive will work with the Mac and its built in driver software. The Apple Super Drive is a good, although spendy, choice. In the case of the Apple device you'll need to connect it directly to the computer rather than via a hub or dock to get it to work.
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I tried that too and it did not work. My Mac book pre did not acknowledge any drive. I spent the afternoon reading forums and in one of them there was what you have suggested, so I tried it and still nothing. Today I have returned the drive, I went also to the Local Apple Store to have some technical input to no avail as the person I spoke to did not even know the specs of the apple super drive. He simply repeated that "obviously" the driver I had was not formatted for use with iOS even after I explained that the Mac book would not connect with it so I could not reformat the drive. Anyways...I left and went to JB HiFi and purchased another drive...I hope this will work.
