Airpod Pro and piercings

I love my airpod pros but my piercings are disrupting them. It is driving me crazy. I have a daith and a conch piercing , which are in the inner ear. Not being able to touch my skin, my airpods don’t detect they are in my ear. I can turn off automatic ear detection , to stop any automatic pausing. However, I would prefer to have that setting on. Even with it off, I am still not able to use any noise cancellation. That is a huge aspect of why I love my Airpods. Is there any setting or work around I can use to have my Airpods functioning correctly with my piercings in? I will not take them out, considering they are extremely difficult to get in and out, and having to change my appearance in order to use an Apple product is unreasonable.
