Right Click on my mouse cause word selection and open context menu. How to switch off word selection?

Os and Configuration

  • Mac OS Sonoma 14.2.1
  • Secondory Click configured as Right Click for Mouse and Trackpad
  • Issue happens in all apps - Notes/Safari/Chrome/...

Issue

In any application with any mouse (Magic Mouse/Logitech) when I do Right Click it selects a word under mouse pointer and shows context menu for selected text.

Question

How can I switch off word selection on right click? So that at the end it will show context menu for the whole page when in Chrome/Safari or the whole note context menu when in the Notes app?

And whenever I would wish to have context menu for selected text I will simply select a text and then right click on it.

Thanks in advance.

The right-click is working as designed and offering the context menu for the item upon which the cursor rests. The selection cannot be turned off. You must change your habit.

If you wish to see the context menu for the page or the note, don't right-click on text, just right-click on the blank space above or below any text.
