Every time I try to use Sidecar - wired, wireless etc. I get the "Sidecar can’t connect wirelessly because your iPad’s Wi‑Fi is not available. To use Sidecar wirelessly, turn on Wi‑Fi and make sure it is not in use for Personal Hotspot."
I really need to figure this out. I've tried all the steps, updated all operating systems, my computer and ipad are both brand new. Nothing works. Very frustrating.

We have no idea what this means. We don’t know where these steps might have been enumerated.
So forgetting about that, here’s a clear statement of the Sidecar requirements. Note, for example, Bluetooth is required.

Does your Wi-Fi use VPN? Do you use some anti-virus software? Try turning those off if applicable. And there must be no Hotspot involvement.

Thanks for the reply - I have done every step on this page you linked to. I have updated both Operating systems, made sure the same apple ID is on both, restarted both, tried wirelessly, wired (made sure to trust on both), reset location and privacy etc. I am at a loss.

I get this error every time on the macbook:
"Sidecar can’t connect wirelessly because your iPad’s Wi‑Fi is not available. To use Sidecar wirelessly, turn on Wi‑Fi and make sure it is not in use for Personal Hotspot."
This is especially frustrating as I am trying now to bypass wifi and connect them wired.
The first method, from the apple > system settings > dropdown - I selected "ipad" from the dropdown and immediately got this error:

From control center: opened it, clicked on screen mirroring, selected ipad from the mirror options, got this error:

I retried both options when the ipad was plugged into computer, made sure both trusted each other. Same exact results.
What steps have you performed? What did you see after each step? What worked? What failed? What error messages appeared?
Sidecar never works.
