Anytime I try to search for music, it keeps referring me to my library and doesn't search for new songs. Please what can I do to remedy this?

If you want to search the Apple Music catalog, make sure to click the box at upper right for "Apple Music." See details in here:

Hmm, I am running an older version, but this may be a bug in a newer version. Just to make sure, in Music Preferences > General, do you still have a checkmark/tickmark for "Apple Music"?

Are you still using MacOS 14.1. If so, I suggest you update to 14.3.
