FCPX some clips playing black in timeline

I'm editing 4k on a macbook pro running macos monteray. My employer won't let me upgrade to Ventura yet. Running FCPX 10.6.5

Some clips which I've zoomed in on and corrected are playing black in part on the timeline and on export. I've tried trashing the preferences when reopening FCPX. I've tried deleting the generated project files and letting it re-render everything. Nothing is working. I'm coming across this problem more and more frequently. Sometimes if I find the source clip and re-edit it into the timeline it'll reappear, but it's not happening this time. Help please!

What are these black clip settings?

Open one of those in Quicktime Player, press Command-I and post a screenshot.

Also, do you have any "cleaners" or "antivirus" on this mac?
