Apartment call box will not open entry door with iPhone 15

My building’s call box calls my phone but when I dial 9 it does not unlock the door. I’ve lived in this building for years, with the same entry system, and this is a new problem. I am the only person in my building it stopped work for.

I searched this topic already and found very little useful information. A few people said they got it to work by switching their SIM cards from Sprint to T Mobile. My phone has an eSIM and I don’t think this applies to me.

I have spoken to ATT and Apple and they both seem to think it is the other’s problem. I am at a loss of what to do next.

Things I have tried:

1.) turn on and off my phone

2.) update phone

3.) have building manager remove my phone number from call box and reprogram my number again

4.) turned off blue tooth

5.) turned off WiFi calling

6.) I have no vpn on my phone

7.) turned incoming calls from banner to full screen

Someone please help me.

It appears that the DTMF (Dual Tone Multi Frequency) tones are not working on your iPhone when you are on a phone call. Please confirm that your carrier settings are up-to-date. Here's how 👉 Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad.

If the issue remains, then I recommend that you contact your carrier since they will be able to provide guidance in resolving this issue. I know that you have contacted ATT and they have not been helpful. I believe that you will have to push the matter forward with ATT and ask the next level support person to reset your account so that the DTMF tones are functional when you are on a call.

NOTE: On your iPhone 15, you can have both eSIMs active and ON at the same time.

Keep pushing ATT and try and get a competent next level support member. You will need someone who understands the DTMF tones and this may include re-provisioning your account/SIM. I guess tomorrow is another day and I do realize that your iPhone is in SOS mode. Hopefully, ATT customer service is open on weekends.

Thank you for your response Axel. The first person I spoke with at ATT told me she looked it up and thought that was the problem and I should tell apple. So I did that and neither person I spoke to seemed to think that was a problem. Apple sent me back to ATT and the guy tried deleting my sim. Then I had two sims listed for my phone number. One listed as primary that was “off” and one listed as business that was “on”. He told me to turn on the primary. But to do that I had to turn off the business which immediately disconnected the call. Now I can’t get in contact with anyone and ATT is closed and my phone is in SOS mode.
