Restoring a specific app's data from previous backup

I inadvertently deleted 10 years of DataVault data (it's an app for storing various logins and sundry data) on my iPhone 15. I do have a backup of the data to my Mac from the iPhone 14 I had. I get it that I can restore the whole phone, but there is already a ton of new data in the way of contacts, photos, etc. on the new phone, such that it would be very pertinent to the problem to be able to restore that specific app's data from last fall. Can it be done?

Thank you. Yes, of course, I had automatic backups going to Dropbox, but somehow that lapsed around late 2021, and nothing after that was saved.

I don't know how you had automatic backups of your phone going to Dropbox so I can't speak to that. I know you can have your photos automatically upload to Dropbox but that's about it.

My recollection of previously backing up was that one could de-select certain items like photos, music, etc., in which case I could do a "kind-of" partial restore. Correct?

No, not with an iCloud back up. Restoring an iCloud backup (or one from your computer) is, as I said all or nothing.

Alternately, couldn't I completely back up the current iPhone data; restore the iPhone 14 data to the current phone; get into the app and save the data to iCloud; then re-restore the present iPhone, and update the data within the app from what I have saved to iCloud? The only consideration would be having enough memory, perhaps on an external drive, to have all of the data from two phones momentarily stored.....kind of cumbersome, for sure.

If the app has an internal mechanism for backing up its data, you might be able to restore it. Check the settings within the app. And contact the app developer.
