This question is asked already but back in 2012. I am not sure if you guys are facing this issue on a 2020 i9 Macbook Pro. I have an external mouse. When I am reading a doc, or watching a video, the right click menu keeps popping up. Are there any adjustments I need to do?

System Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control > Ignore built-in trackpad when the mouse or wireless trackpad is present

Either that external mouse is bad right button (default config) or the Control key is being accidentally pressed or is stuck so when you do a left-click, it is activating a Right-Click.
Of course if you reconfigured any special key combinations, or are using some third party software to modify the keys, or third party software for the external mouse, then that may be the source of the problem.
Maybe you are accidentally brushing the built-in Trackpad while typing on the built-in keyboard? I think there is a macOS option/setting to disable the built-in Trackpad while typing when using an external mouse, but I'm not certain...may be something to research.
make some changes to your settings...
>System Settings>Trackpad/Mouse
Try a different mouse if no change and compare your results.
or on a MacBook Pro 15″ use the trackpad and compare your results...
