Apple TV unresponsive after a few hours of activating ARC

I noticed the Apple TV becoming unresponsive—no status light, Siri can’t connect, black screen, Siri Remote not working. To get the Apple TV going again, I have to unplug the power source and reconnect. I tried updating Apple TV and TV software, but no luck. I’ve restored the Apple TV and erased all content and settings.

I suspected it had something to do with ARC, so I deactivated it. The issue resolved itself; however, I like having my games (Nintendo Switch or PS5) play from my HomePods (original stereo pair). After 8 hours of activating ARC, the Apple TV would power off and become unresponsive once again. I’m not a fan of sound coming from the TV speakers.

I find myself having to unplug the power source every day just to get sound over to the HomePods using ARC. I bought the latest TV 4K + ethernet and Belkin 4K HDMI high speed from the Apple Store.

Yep, exact same issue. The replacement part came in faster than I thought, so I didn't have as much triage time as I was anticipating. But, I wasn't able to reproduce in the brief period between when I updated my TV firmware and the replacement of the device. And I haven't reproduced since. So, I'd recommend first updating the firmware on your TV - if symptoms persist, to the Genius Bar.
