system preferences asking to update Apple ID Services - but will not update

This message is beyond annoying. I login, confirm every prompt, laptop stays on, awake for hours... nothing... message reappears the next time I open the laptop...

Operating System is older - Catalina ... laptop works... no lag... refuse to add to landfill to satisfy Apple's greed to stop providing updates...

BTW - This is the 4th issues with an Apple product in 2024 ... what is going on with Apple quality? I truly dislike Gates but do I need to switch to Windows and Androis?
