I'm using a MacBook Air with macOS Sonoma 14.3.1. I'm attempting to upload the contents of a CD using a USB adapter connected to my MacBook Air. However, my USB SuperDrive isn't appearing.

Is that an Apple USB-C to USB adapter?
That drive has a reputation for being finicky about its power supply, and not necessarily working well if plugged into a hub, a dock … or, perhaps, a non-Apple adapter. I've seen people in other threads recommend plugging it directly into

You may need to go into Finder > Settings and tick off boxes in the General and Sidebar sections to make mounted CDs and DVDs show up on the Desktop and in the sidebars of Finder windows.
