is it possible to connect and use an USB Super Drive on a MacBook Air?

Yes – but that drive has a reputation for being finicky about power. So instead of connecting it through a third-party dock or hub, you might want to connect it using one of these:

Mine works just fine with a USB-A to USB-C plug adapter connected directly to the MBA.
