Does MacBook NEO support Apple USB Superdrive?

From a software standpoint, there is no reason to think that the USB SuperDrive would be incompatible with the MacBook Neo.

However, the Apple USB SuperDrive has a reputation for being finicky about power – for not working with hubs. Typically, it wants to be plugged into

• A USB-A host port on a Mac without a built-in optical drive, or
• An Apple USB-C to USB adapter that is directly plugged into a USB-C host port on a Mac without a built-in optical drive.

Whether either of the MacBook Neo's USB-C ports (the USB 3 one, or the USB 2 one) will supply the power the drive wants, remains to be seen.

The Apple SuperDrive optical drive works just fine on my MacBook Air running Tahoe.

There is no reason to believe that the SD won't work on the MB Neo as well.

At this time, however, the Neo is not shipping so we users here in the Community have no first hand experience with it.

Be patient for another week or so and the definitive answer to your question can be provided.
