Greyed out files in finder! Help!

So the issue I am having (across all my devices, Macbook Pro M3 and 2 Studio Macs) is that when I save a document in Chrome, for example, when I'm Quickbooks online, I save a copy of an invoice in PDF to my desktop, it doesn't show up on my desktop, but when I double click Macintosh HD and navigate to the iCloud desktop folder, I see the file there and its greyed out. Then I have to double-click it, and it opens up Adobe. Then I click File, save as, put a space after the original file name, and hit Save, and it shows up on my desktop. This happens on my Macbook Pro and my two studio computers. All are signed into iCloud under the same iCloud account, and appropriate boxes are checked:

I have rebooted all devices multiple times and double-checked these settings on them all, and all appear fine. I have NOT tried turning these settings off and on because I'm afraid things may be lost. Has anyone else had this type of thing happen?
