Please go again to system settings > keyboard > text input > edit > input sources and make sure there is only ONE item on the that list, and that the name of that item is US or ABC. Remove everything else except one of those.

Yes, I should have added that you need to select the unwanted keyboard and then use the minus button at the bottom to remove it.
