How can I save pictures and videos from iPhone 14 to a G-Drive SanDisk external hard drive?

My storage is full in my iPhone . I want to save pictures and videos to a device that I can access at any time. I bought a SanDisk Professional 2TB ArmorATD external hard drive. At the genius bar I was told to use my iMac as a bridge between iPhone and the external hard drive using an app, whose name I don't remember. Where can I find step-by-step directions? Thank you.

iPhone 7, iOS 14

You should be able to plug the drive directly into the iPhone with a Lighting adapter and use the Photos App to copy the photos onto the external drive.

click here ➜ Connect external storage devices to iPhone - Apple Support

With the drive connected and visible in the Files app, open the Photos App tap on "Select" at the top right of the screen, select the photos you wish to transfer, then tap on the share icon at the bottom left, scroll down to Save to Files, and then Navigate there to the drive you connected to the iPhone and then tap on "Save" to save them to the external drive.

If you do want to use a computer as a bridge. You can follow the steps in the link below to extract the photos onto the Mac and then just copy them normally onto the external drive from the Mac.
