MESSAGES WITH QUESTION MARKS

LAST NOVEMBER 2022 OVER 14 MONTHS AGO, I OPENED UP A CASE FOR MY IPHONE 13 PRO HAVING QUESTION MARKIS APPEAR ON MY IPHONE MESSAGES THAT I SENT TO FRIENDS AFTER 1-3 DAYS.

I HAVE SPENT MANY HOURS DEALING WITH MORE THAN 9 SENIOR APPLE REPS. THE APPLE REPS SAY THAT THEY ARE RESTRICTED AS TO WHAT QUESTIONS THEY CAN ASK ENGINEERING? WITH EACH REP I DUPLICATE THE SAME THINGS SUCH AS DIAGNOSTICS, SCREEN SHOTS, UPDATE TO LATEST IOS.

WHEN I ASK THE SENIOR REPS WHAT SPECIFICALLY HAS ENGINEERING DONE FOR THE LAST 14 MONTHS TO FIX MY IPHONE IS APPLE ENGINEERING WILL ONLY SAY TO KEEP MY IOS UPDATED WHICH HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR THE LAST 14 MONTHS AND ARE HOPING THE CURRENT IOS UPDATE WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.

HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH APPLE ENGINEERING?

You haven't mentioned whether you are dealing with iMessage or SMS issues. Verify if the recipient also sees question marks, or if it's only on your end. Knowing if the issue persists across devices can help narrow down the cause.

If you are experiencing issues specifically with iMessage, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Toggle iMessage Off and On:
    1. Go to Settings on your iPhone.
    2. Scroll down and tap on "Messages."
    3. Turn off the toggle for iMessage and wait a few seconds.
    4. Turn iMessage back on.
  2. Sign Out and Sign In to iMessage:
    1. In Messages, choose Messages > Settings, then click iMessage. Click Sign Out. In FaceTime, choose FaceTime > Settings, then click General. Click Sign Out.
    2. Sign back in with your Apple ID.
  3. Check Date and Time Settings:
    1. Ensure that the date and time settings on your iPhone are set correctly. Incorrect date and time settings can lead to iMessage delivery issues. If you can't change the time or time zone on your Apple device

If you are experiencing issues specifically with SMS/MMS, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Update Carrier Settings:
    1. Sometimes, carrier settings updates can resolve messaging issues. Check if there are any carrier updates available: Go to Settings > General > About.
    2. If a carrier update is available, you will be prompted to install it.
  2. Contact Your Carrier:
    1. If the issue persists, contact your mobile carrier to ensure there are no account or network-related problems.
  3. If you're sending messages to an Android device, there might be compatibility issues with certain symbols or emojis, leading to question marks appearing.
  4. Question marks can sometimes appear if the iPhone doesn't recognize the specific font used in the message. This could happen if the recipient uses a different font than you or if there's a problem with the font rendering on your phone. Install and manage fonts on iPhone - Apple Support (IN)

To improve understanding of the phenomenon, it would be highly beneficial if you could share a screenshot. Visual representations carry greater impact than written descriptions.

Please remember that this is a public forum, so when attaching a screenshot, please avoid including any personal credentials such as IP addresses, card details, email IDs, Apple IDs, IMEI numbers, serial numbers, phone numbers, order IDs, or any identifiable location information if you are sharing a map.

Unfortunately, without more information, it's difficult to diagnose the exact cause of the question marks.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.
