ipod software version is 12.5.7. and says up to date. need later version to support sonos

Unfortunately, that device is not compatible with iOS 13 or higher.

you have an outdated ipod, so you won't be able to use the app.

You would need to upgrade to a newer ipod if Apple sells one.
