Airdrop icon stays dimmed (High Sierra)

Mac OS High Sierra on MacBook Pro:

Connected to an iPhone 8 with iOS 16.7.5

Checked the usual suspects both on Mac ad iPhone:

  • Airplane mode OFF
  • Wi-Fi & BT ON, iPhone & Mac connected via BT
  • Do Not Disturb OFF
  • Personal Hotspot OFF
  • Firewall: UNcheck block incoming connections:

Looks good, BUT 'Send icon' on Mac remains dimmed and IPhone does not see anything:

Any idea is welcome.

Noud.

You're welcome.

Yes, both requirements must be met for Mac to iPhone AirDrop.

The Mac must be a 2012 model or newer.

And the Mac must be running Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite or later (newer).

That info used to could be found in Apple docs, but I can't seem to find it there.

I did find a couple references online. Here are two examples:

AirDrop - Wikipedia

How to tell if your Mac supports AirDrop - idownloadblog.com

The second has info for Mac-to-Mac AirDrop as well as Mac-to-iPhone requirements.
