Lost Macbook

I lost my Macbook Pro yesterday, which is a month old. I use the same Apple ID for my mobile phone and the Macbook. I have not enabled "find my MacBook" in the Macbook setting, and I can't trace the location at all, and its whereabouts is unknown. I can see my iPhone device and location, but the Macbook is not in the list. Please advise me to look for it. I am a student, and I need it urgently.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 14.3

Sorry to read that you've lost your MacBook Pro.

I assume you've retraced your steps to discover where you may have left it.

Unfortunately, the time to have activated the Find My feature of the computer was while you still had it. There is no way to activate it now that the computer is out of your hands.

All you can do now is perhaps report the loss to your renters or home owners insurance carrier and hope that maybe you have some sort of applicable coverage. If the device was stolen you should also report that to local law enforcement or campus security (?).

Lesson learned? There's no good reason not to activate Find My on your Apple devices, and at least one very good reason to do so.

I wish you luck in recovering your Mac, my friend. 🍀🤞🏽
