iPad 7 volume (down) button physically sticking

iPad 7 volume (down) button physically sticking. It was stuck in the PUSHED DOWN state.

I first tried daubing the button with 70% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) using a q-tip. After several minutes and some physical prying with a small knife blade, the button remained stuck down.

When viewing the volume buttons from the side, the down button was obviously much closer to the body than the up button.

At this point I scheduled an appointment at the Genius Bar for later today (AppleCare physical damage coverage in effect).

Just to make sure, I tried again with 70% ethyl alcohol (another type of rubbing alcohol) and prying for a few more minutes. After that, the button "stickiness" disappeared and the volume down button worked properly.

===================

Summary:

The physically sticking button took 10 to 15 minutes for the daubed alcohol to dissolve whatever cause the "stickiness". Not sure if the different rubbing alcohols made a difference. That was just how I grabbed one bottle from the bathroom then the second from the kitchen.

In any case, do give the alcohol enough time to soak in and dissolve whatever was there.
