My iMac High Sierra 10.13.6 gets a Unrecognizable format" error importing photos from iPhone after iPhone 17.3 update. They are jpg format pictures, what is the deal? Thank you.

Have you already restarted the iPhone? Sometimes this will fix temporary glitches when trying to import from the iPhone.
Or could it be, that you have iCloud Photos and "Optimize iPhone Storage" enabled? If yes, you need to ensure that all photos you want to import have been downloaded from iCloud.
You may want to check, if the iPhone is still set to take teethe new photos as JPEGs and not in the High Efficiency format. Sometimes a system update will change some of the Settings.
