Bluetooth only working if device is on top of phone

iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 17.3. My phone has been having Bluetooth issues for some time now. First I struggled to airdrop files between phones, now I can’t get any device to maintain a Bluetooth connection unless it’s next to the phone. If I connect and then move the device more than a few inches away from my phone, it loses connection. I can pair the same devices without issue to my work phone.
