Airplay Issues

I am trying to airplay some video files from my iPhone XS to my TV (Samsung), consistently. I run into issues from almost all sources of the video file (mp4), wether it be on Dropbox (app or browser) or the "Files" (iCloud Browser or files app).

for Dropbox the video plays but the audio drops out randomly/sporadically at different timestamps each time but without fail. I can get the audio back by fast forwarding or rewinding but it always cuts out again almost immediately and may not come back until minutes later. There is no issue with the audio in the file if played normally without airplay, it is there and should not be dropping out.

Trying to airplay a video file from the Apple "Files" app on my iPhone or from the icloud browser presents different issues. Airplay will "connect" to my TV - displaying and stating that it is connected (both on my phone and on the TV) but the video content is not there or displayed in any form, nor does it play, just displays the connected/messaging on both screens... sometime the timeline on the video looks like its counting down the time, other times it says its playing but the time metrics are not moving at all. I have also tried to airplay files from quicktime on my macbook pro and the same thing happens - it says its connected but literally nothing is playing. The only way to cast the video from the files app on my phone seems to be through the control panel/ screen mirroring function, as there is not a way to cast within the app or that comes up on the video like in dropbox. This method produces the issues explained above and appears useless when trying to cast to the TV. It will cast to my macbook pro however....... but I am trying to watch it on my TV NOT my computer... I could just play it from my computer if that was a reasonable option and skip casting all together, but that is not a fix for this, I need to be able to cast these files to the TV.

With things like Netflix, youtube, 3rd party fitness apps, I do not run into this issue casting/ air playing to my TV at all, only when trying to airplay the files from a file source like dropbox or Files/iCloud. By all indications, this is not an issue with my TV.

The only thing that has worked is putting the files in amongst my photos and then selecting the cast/ airplay option via the share function. Videos cast fine from Photos and have no audio issues. This is however not ideal because the videos are long, and I don't really want them in my photos stream. I want to be able to navigate to the video files frequently and easily and to cast them for easy follow along on my tv... having them in my photo stream is another level of inconvenient I was trying to avoid by placing them on Dropbox or in iCloud.

help! this feels nonsensically inconvenient and silly that this shouldn't work. I have tried updating my devices and apps, clearing caches. Please help me find a work around.
