Viewing stored downloaded I-tunes shows on Apple TV App

I have literally hundreds of TV episodes and movies stored on two portable hard drives which I use as a source when off grid in my motorhome, or in a campground with slow internet service. So far these do not seem to work on the Apple TV app, which is very disappointing. I hate to think of downloading all these files again.

TV Shows Appearing in Music App On my Mac (OS Ventura 13.2) I opened mp4 files of TV shows that I had imported from an external hard drive. When I opened each mp4 file, it appeared in the Apple TV app as a "Home Video". As each file is an episode of a TV show, I right clicked on each one, selected "Get Info" and changed the media type for each file to "TV Show". I subsequently synced my iPad (7th gen.) with my Mac and the TV shows then appeared in my Music app! I have since tried to find the affected shows in the TV app on the Mac, but each one has vanished. I also checked in the Music app on the Mac and they're not listed there either. Where have the shows held on my Mac moved to and why are they appearing on my iPad in the Music app? If I delete each episode from my iPad's Library, will I lose each one completely as I can no longer locate them in the TV app on my Mac?

Apple tv can i store movies and shows purchased from apple tv on a hard drive? i basically want to purchase movies and put them in my hard drive to play later if for whatever reason the store stops selling that movie or show (license issues) if I can do this, where can I watch those movies? Can I watch on an apple tv app or Do I need to watch on my iphone/ipad/mac (whatever apple)?
