Apple Pencil orientation issues
I am using the 2nd Generation Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro running 17.3.1.
I have noticed that when drawing, the iPad senses the pencil’s orientation incorrectly.
For example, when using a thick brush (like the highlighter on a PDF, or a calligraphy pen in Procreate) I am only able to draw thick lines in the vertical and not in the horizontal.
The effect, for example, if I tried to highlight text from left to right, is as if I have used the highlighted edge-on (I.e at 90 degrees to the expected orientation). Only a thin line appears, unless I draw vertically down the page.
The issue persists in Procreate and Files, using both portrait and landscape orientations, but is not an issue in Notes (where highlighted works as expected). It does not alter after a restart and forgetting and re-pairing the pencil does not change this.
If you’re considering telling me I can adjust the thickness of highlighter lines, please re-read the post, as that’s not what I’m describing.
The fact that the Notes app correctly represents orientation makes me think this is a software issue. Has anyone else seen this?
