Macbook RAM Clearing

I have a MacBook and I looked at the activity monitor and I has 1.8 gb of cached files and 6gb of memory used. I am wondering if restarting or shutting down my Mac will clear out the memory. Can someone please give me a solution for clearing out the memory.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 14.4

Yes, it will clear the memory when you shut down the computer. However, if your computer is working as designed, it will use the memory again when restarting. Unless there is an ongoing problem, trying to micromanage memory usage is a waste of your time.
