The amount of flash memory – device storage – on your iPhone is fixed for the life of the iPhone. There is no way to increase it. You can subscribe to iCloud+. This gives you more storage on Apple's servers for synchronization, and for iPhone backups, but it is not a substitute for device storage.

Because the "Related Article" is "Update your iPhone or iPad", I suspect that you were trying to update your iPhone and got a message saying that you had insufficient free space. iOS updates require device storage. So if you don't currently have enough free storage to download an iOS update, you'll need to make more by deleting or temporarily offloading other things (apps, music, movies, photos, etc.).

If you are using iCloud Photos, turning on "Optimize iPhone Storage" in Settings may be helpful. ("When Optimize Storage is turned on, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in iCloud, and, when needed, space-saving copies are stored on your device."). This is a special case of temporarily offloading stuff, where the phone helps to do some of the saving / offloading for you.
