My wife just upgraded from an iPhone 8 to an iPhone 15. In addition this included an upgrade from iOS 16 to io17. The phots icon is nowhere to be found on any screen . However if you bring up search the app is there. How does she get the app back where she is used to seeing it?

Has she looked in the App Library? On her home screen swipe for right to left and keep swiping through all the home screens until you arrive at the app library. Find the photos app there and move it to any home screen you want to put it.
