The feature of being able to click on the little i in a circle to get information about the plant species or animal or even an artwork in a museum has disappeared from my iOS with the current update of 18. It gives location but no information. This is something I came to depend on.

I was able to get the photo information back when I went to Settings-apps-photos-and checked Enhanced Visual Search. Apparently with my new 16 pro I needed to do that again as it didn’t transfer over from the iPhone 14. It is an amazing tool I use for finding plant, insect names, landmarks, and identifying artwork in museums. I still haven’t found the magnification tool in Mark-ups which seems to have truly disappeared.

Check Settings>Apps>Photos to see if "Enhanced Visual Search" is turned on.
It may take a few days after switching to iOS for Photos to complete cataloging details in pictures.

Of course, it misidentifies my cat as a Japanese Bobtail. I don't know what that is, but the AI that determined the breed has not been awakened in the morning Flurry's un-bobbed tail flopping in its face.

I think you may have already tagged a previous photo of her as Fluffy and so the 16pro is bringing her name and that she is a cat forward? I wonder what you would get if you took a picture of the bark of a tree of a plant now, as a new item, and see if the software identifies the subject for you.
I have that setting enabled but no luck. The little "i" no longer exists, and the ability to use the photo to learn the name of a plant, or the breed of a dog, etc, is gone. I even went back to photos that I was able to get info on using my 13pro (before I traded it in for the 16pro), but the feature is not resident in the info that was saved with the photo. bummer

Thank you so much for the dialogue. I have a different set of tools below the picture and I need to do some work to figure out why - may call apple support tomorrow. Where you have a leaf with 2 stars next to the heart icon, I have a lowercase "i", and where you have a "look up" box above the date I have a caption box! weird. Thanks again!
I have the same issue - does anyone know if Apple removed this on purpose? 2 of my friends who bought 16s noticed the same thing.
